However, the contractors are believed to have secretly got city approval last month to add 10 double-hung windows to the building's side brick wall to allow more light into Jones' apartment.
The most recent completed phase of renovations focused on installing more than 300 new low-e double-hung windows throughout the complex, re-pointing the facade and installing a new boiler.
Instead of hinged windows, double-hung windows were the replacements, which not only looked better but the ease of opening and closing was improved.
