Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, due in 2007, will have the most composites of any aircraft--50% by weight, up from 12% on the Boeing 777--while Airbus Industrie's enormous doubledecker A380, due in 2006, will be the world's largest plane and 22% of it will be composites.
Airbus, the European consortium that is doing its best to chase Boeing from the skies, unveiled its biggest bid for dominance Tuesday: The 550-seat A380, a doubledecker leviathan whose capacity can be extended to 800 passengers.
