The Estate House, at Matfen Hall, in the Tyne Valley, was the estate's former dower house .
The fine old house - which even merits a mention by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner in his study of the fine old houses of England - was originally part of the dower house to Clopton House.
Old Dower House, who's retired now, loved going round there, even though he had legs like glass.
