Jerome Lejeune, the first president of the Pontifical Academy for Life and the French scientist who identified Downs syndrome as a chromosomal anomaly, is being proposed for beatification. In France, the Supreme Court has ruled that a 7-year-old child, whose mother says she would have aborted if her doctor had told her that she was carrying a Downs syndrome baby, is to be financially reimbursed for his future material needs. |
