Two multi-center studies evaluating locally delivered doxycycline hyclate, placebo control, oral hygiene, and scaling and root planing in the treatment of periodontitis.
While a single oral dose of doxycycline is only 20% to 30% effective at preventing these diseases in mice, researchers found that a new formulation of doxycycline hyclate that is programmed to release the drug over a 20-day period is 100% effective.
