A planning inquiry was held in February into an appeal against refusal of planning permission of a different application for new units at Silverlink which would have been occupied by a Krispy Kreme drive-through restaurant, a Nando's restaurant and a Costa coffee shop.
Hercules Unit Trust/British Land Properties Limited had appealed against North Tyneside Council's decision to refuse planning permission for a cafe, restaurant and drive-through restaurant on land adjacent to Halford's and SCS at Silverlink Retail Park.
He said KFC had enjoyed growing popularity, with like-for-like sales up 14 per cent so far this year, adding the company was increasingly moving towards drive-through restaurants and outlets that encourage customers to eat in.
