In science, Dubos never made exaggerated claims or overstepped scientific evidence.
Among the most memorable of these are The Closing Circle (1971) by Barry Commoner, Only One Earth by Barbara Ward and Rene Dubos (1972), and The Politics of Cancer by Samuel Epstein (1979).
Typically, researchers have used either a global measure of life satisfaction or happiness, or component measures (job satisfaction, marital happiness, health status) (Andrews & Withey, 1976; Beck, 1967; Bowling, 1997; Campbell, Converse, & Rodgers, 1976; DuBos, 1976; Farquhar, 1995; Parsons, 1951; Patrick & Erickson, 1993).
