I got my legs working in special effects animation at a lot of small Toronto studios jumping between live-action commercials and then moving into the more traditional environment of animated cartoons, mostly for commercials.
With the advent of computers, more people have become exposed to computer graphic animation and special effects animation as seen in movies like The Matrix.
Among the other winners Saturday, DreamWorks' ``Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,'' about a young horse fleeing human captors in the wilderness, received awards for character design, effects animation, production design and storyboarding.
