| Drugmaker Wyeth on Friday reported a 4 percent increase in first-quarter profit, citing tight cost controls and big jumps in sales for five blockbuster drugs, including Effexor, the world's top-selling antidepressant. Scientists have also challenged the safety of two other flagship products--its Premarin line of hormone therapy for postmenopausal women and the antidepressant drug, Effexor. Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration advisers are reviewing the warnings in some drug packets following the US Food and Drug Administration's move to place 'black box' warnings on the class of antidepressant drugs that includes Prozac, Zoloft, Aropax and Effexor. |
