The capital and largest city of Algeria, in the north on the Bay of Algiers, an arm of the Mediterranean Sea. An ancient North African port, Algiers was captured by French forces in 1830 and was later a pivotal center of the struggle for Algerian independence. Population: 1,980,000.

Summary: The National Savings Fund (CNEP-Bank) plans to launch as from Wednesday a new insurance service called "Cnep Total Contingency," set up in partnership with Cardif El Djazair, the Bank indicated Tuesday.
The group also expanded its network in North Africa in 2008 with the opening of 22 new branches and 20 new ATMs for BMCI in Morocco, 13 branches and 22 ATMs for BNP Paribas El Djazair in Algeria, and six branches for UBCI in Tunisia.
This plant (also known as El Djazair or El Harach), was built by a JV with foreign oil companies - Societe de Raffinerie d'Alger (SPA) - in the capital's El Harach district.
