Tornwaldt's cysts (sometimes called Thornwaldt's cysts) develop as a result of abnormal embryologic development at the posterior wall of the nasopharynx. Because true biologic incidence is impossible to determine, the prevalence of birth defects is a function of embryologic incidence as well as intrauterine survival (Weinberg and Wilcox 1998). Embryologic and developmental considerations of the musculoskeletal system are also mentioned when pertinent. |
