| Enrique Hernandez, 23, was arrested Thursday at a Canoga Park laundromat after CHP investigators linked him to a van abandoned near the Inland Empire city of Desert Hot Springs, authorities said. As early as the 1960s, the firm was studying existing utilities, tunnels, structures and abandoned pipes to help Empire City Subway, a subsidiary of New York Telephone Company, plan workable routes for new conduits. The appointment of Gong, a renowned diesel exhaust researcher, and Loveridge, a member of the South Coast board whose Inland Empire city is in one of the most polluted regions in the country, also drew praise. |
