Yet, lo and behold, strolling in my neighborhood a few days ago I came upon some glorious Epidendrum orchids growing in clay pots that were exposed to a good portion of the afternoon's sun. It's a Lycogala epidendrum slime mold, also called toothpaste slime. Exhibiting at Showcase House since 1980, Hetherington shows how to display flowering orchids like cymbidiums, phalaenopsis, oncidium and epidendrum in the shade. |
