The ecology of two introduced marine ascidians and their effects on epifaunal organisms in Long Island Sound. Old bridge structures with combinations of high truss, deck truss and girders provide substrata for a variety of epifaunal organisms including barnacles, mussels and hydroids. The Georgia Basin reefs have formed on glacial highs or on glacial flutes, where the raised surfaces of boulders and cobbles provide a hard substrate for benthic epifaunal organisms to colonize. |
