n.1.(Rhet.) A figure of speech by which a strong affirmation of the contrary, is implied under the form of an earnest interrogation, as in the following lines; -
Must I give way and room to your rash choler?
Shall I be frighted when a madman stares?

erotesis
a manner of phrasing a question that presupposes an answer that is either a strong affirmative or, more often, a strong negative.
