One of four books of the Vulgate, the first two of which correspond to Ezra and Nehemiah and the second two of which were rejected as apocryphal but are sometimes included as an appendix to the New Testament as 1 and 2 Esdras.

1. (Christian Religious Writings / Bible) either of two books of the Apocrypha, I and II Esdras called III and IV Esdras in the Douay Bible
2. (Christian Religious Writings / Bible) either of two books of the Douay Bible Old Testament, I and II Esdras corresponding to the books of Ezra and Nehemiah in the Authorized Version
