Wild pigs are not native to the United States and are a combination of escaped swine and imported Eurasian wild boars.
In part four he looks at 'the history of human/pig relationships' and suggests that one species, the Eurasian wild boar may have become domesticated before humans emerged as farmers.
My hypothesis is that LDV was transmitted from an infected wild house mouse to a Eurasian wild boar (Sus scrofa) in central Europe sometime during the 19th century.
