The excellent mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe is pleasant-looking in real life, yet she looked awfully plain as Orfeo in the close- ups in the Metropolitan Opera's recent simulcast of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice -- next to the pretty, slender Danielle de Niese, she resembled a black-draped balloon.
Metropolitan Opera is showing Orfeo Ed Euridice (PG) in a live broadcast at Cineworlds Broad Street and Solihull at 6pm on Saturday only.
