To alleviate the problem of dealing with the very fast reaction kinetics in this work, we chose to control the extent of reaction by adding different amounts of peroxide, thus changing the concentration of macroradicals, rather than varying the time.
Modeling Building the thermal and curing model Our goal is to develop a mathematical model based on the knowledge of the fundamental mechanisms governing thermal transfers in order to predict the evolution of the film temperature and of the extent of reaction when the powder coating is under a radiative flux.
Although not yet in wide usage, the extent of reaction provides a clear and explicit representation of compositional change and can be regarded as either a real or hypothetical product, one molecule of which is produced every time the reaction event occurs.
