1. A small pocket at the front waistline of a man's trousers or in the front of a vest, used especially to hold a watch.
2.
a. A short chain or ribbon attached to a pocket watch and worn hanging in front of the vest or waist.
b. An ornament or seal attached to such a chain or ribbon.

It was a platinum fob chain simple and chaste in design, properly proclaiming its value by substance alone and not by meretricious ornamentation--as all good things should do.
And the worthy fellow returned the watch to its fob with a defiant gesture.
Out of the right fob hung a great silver chain, with a wonderful kind of engine at the bottom.
