Bombs went off on one of Islam's holiest days, Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, as worshippers left a Shi'i mosque in Baghdad on Jan. The carnival was just a week after one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar, Eid-ul-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice. Eid-ul-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim or Abraham to obey God and offer his son as a sacrifice, although his son was ultimately spared. |
