fetal hemoglobin
n.
The predominant form of hemoglobin in a fetus and a newborn. Normally present in small amounts in an adult, it may be abnormally elevated in certain forms of anemia.

The Ache/Ache teenager This teenager has sickle cell anaemia (SS) or sickle cell Haemoglobin C disease (SC), or sickle cell beta-Thalassaemia (SbetaThal), or sickle cell Hereditary Persistence of Fetal Haemoglobin (SFhereditary).
Other Ache genes which, combined with the Sickle Cell gene ('S') can produce Sickle Cell Disease are beta-thalassaemia, Hereditary Persistence of Fetal Haemoglobin (Haemoglobin-F or Fhereditary), Haemoglobin-D, etc.
