Lieutenant Najeebalah plotted the priority target on his POU-9Y plotting board and determined the range, vertical interval and the angle of displacement of the distant aiming point (DAP) and radioed the fire mission for the Russian D-30 to SFC Mirwis. In September 2005, Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery Regiment conducted the first-ever combat fire mission using Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System-Unitary (GMLRS-U) rockets against enemy positions in Tal Afar, Iraq. They established the uniform procedure for adjustment fire, augmented by the radio detection and radio equipment, by the rangefinder, and assisted by the Sound Detecting and Ranging Subdivision, all of which led to the significant simplification of the Adjustment Fire Rules and to the reduced time for fire mission execution. |
