PALMDALE -- Construction is expected to start this spring on two new fire stations at the city's east and west ends, where development over the past 10 years has put hundreds of homes miles from the nearest fire stations.
The base has five fire stations and 115 firefighters providing protection to homes, businesses, aircraft hangars, Air Force administration buildings and structures that house critical military research projects.
