Officially FABs - Flavoured Alcoholic Beverages - the drinks were soon nicknamed alcopops, which is now in the Oxford English Dictionary.
Flavoured alcoholic beverages (FABs) such as Bacardi Breezers, Reef and Archers Aqua are more sophisticated than the original alcopops such as Hooch.
Rumours have circulated for years that InBev was to offload the subsidiary, which is struggling in the face of competition from runaway market leader Hite Brewery Co while battling market maturity and growing consumer interest in wine, white spirits and flavoured alcoholic beverages.
