Bottomland hardwood forests are a characteristic plant community of the Mississippi River deltaic plain of southeastern Louisiana with species belonging to the genera Quercus, Celtis, Liquidambar, Ulmus, Fraxinus
, Carya, Acer and Sabal (Penfound and Howard, 1940; Braun, 1950; Montz, 1972).
It will seek to buy land, make necessary compensation payments, map water and soil in target areas and introduce best-practice restoration techniques for: alluvial forests with alnus glutinosa and fraxinus
excelsior; calcareous fens in the Prejmer and Harman swamps; and Eurosiberian silvo-steppe with Quercus sp.
IN 1978, the forest was characterized by the predominance of Fraxinus
But I'm not in the game to share ink with this Fraxinus
or that Pinus in the National Register I just like big trees.
The woody vegetation of the site was dominated by Juniperus virginiana with Cornus racemosa, Fraxinus
americana, Lonicera maackii, and scattered small individuals of several other species (including Acer saccharum).
Additionally, the project seeks to restore Luzulo-Fagetum beech forests in the adjacent areas on drier ground, and to develop the priority habitat type Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus
excelsior along Thranenbach brook inside the Natura 2000 area Obere Nahe.
Seedling survival varied by species from Fraxinus
(97%) to Prunus (11%).
White oak ranked second followed by Fraxinus
pennsylvanica (green ash) and red oak.
alba and Fraxinus
americana consistently contributed the most biomass [ILLUSTRATION FOR FIGURE 7 OMITTED].
Ash yellows is a disease caused by phytoplasmic microorganisms that affect the tree genus Fraxinus
Subdominant species at the site include: Aesculus glabra, Celtis occidentalis, Fraxinus
americana, Prunus serotina, Quercus rubra, and Ulmus rubra.
Rohrschollen Island on the Rhine 10 km upstream from Strasbourg - contains the priority habitat "Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus
excelsior" as well as "Riparian mixed forests along the great rivers (Quercus robur, Ulmus laevis, Ulmus minor)" and another seven habitats listed in annex I of the Habitats Directive.
