During the past week we have seen a total disregard for acceptance of free vote in the refusal to allow BNP press conferences (whose manifesto I find abhorrent), and bigotry against a minority re the traveller site.
But the Government is opposed to the change and rebel Labour MPs are angry they have been refused a free vote on the issue, unlike colleagues in other parties.
In the face of resistance from across parties and religious groups he urged MPs to help "ourselves and future generations" by passing the measures in tonight's free vote.
