Fuchsia magellanica has long slender flowers, scarlet calyces and violet petals.
In my back yard, in the shade of a massive elm tree, I have a seven-foot tall Fuchsia magellanica thicket, with red orange tubular flowers.
In a cooler, shadier position, fuchsia magellanica can be close-planted to form a vibrant summer-flowering hedge.
