Fu·ku·i  (f-k)
A city of central Honshu, Japan, north-northwest of Nagoyo. A major textile center since the tenth century, it was rebuilt after a disastrous earthquake in June 1948. Population: 269,000.

Fukui, Kenichi 1918-1998.
Japanese chemist. He shared a 1981 Nobel Prize for applying quantum-mechanics theories to the analysis of chemical reactions.
