Three cholinesterase-inhibiting drugs were currently approved for use in Canada, namely donepezil, rivastigmine, and galantamine.
Nice issued updated guidance in June saying only people with severe Alzheimer's can get donepezil, galantamine and rivastigmine, while another drug, memantine, can't be given to those with severe Alzheimer's.
He presented results of a randomized, controlled trial of a combination of galantamine and memantine compared to galantamine alone in 233 patients with mild-moderate Alzheimer's.
