Spanish architect who worked mainly in Barcelona, developing a startling new style that paralleled developments in art nouveau. His most celebrated work is the façade of the Expiatory Church of the Holy Family.

Barcelona's most famous son is the architect Antoni Gaudí, who died (unglamorously, run over by a tram) in 1926, leaving his art nouveau masterwork uncompleted.
This isn't what Antoni Gaudí, the modernista architect of Barcelona, meant when he predicted that the future of architecture was in the imitation of nature.
Barcelona is a city full of surprises and charm, from the extraordinary cathedral, designed by Gaudí in 1921 and still under construction, to the Picasso Museum.
