Perhaps all generalists in the academy suffer from a kind of intellectual disorder. That means that professional services organizations must be generalists and specialists at the same time; generalists, in that one has to know every aspect of the business sector that they service, and specialists, in that service companies must understand the nuances of each of their clients' businesses. |
