JIM BRADY noted common and German wasps feeding on fermenting pears, with 41 hart's tongue ferns growing from the walls of St Marie's Catholic Church, in Standish.
The German wasps carry a slightly more painful sting than Britain's common wasp, the Vespula vulgaris.
