A painting by Italian master Giambattista Tiepolo thought lost until its discovery in the attic of a French chateau sold Tuesday for more than two million pounds, auctioneers Christie's said.

It was built by Palladio disciple Mattoni in the 17th century, and it is noteworthy for its series of frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo that, taken together, create an elaborate mythological world.
