Playing an inspired set of some of his greatest hits onstage last Thursday in a heated party tent erected on the site where Gary Barnett's new condo building, the Avery, will soon rise, international pop star, Seal, brought a whole new level of glam to the Manhattan residential publicity party scene. The film, told in 35 ``chapters,'' follows Kitten from boyhood, where his feminine proclivities developed, to his early-1970s adult years, where our dreamer, now in the throes of glam rock, often intersects with the Troubles, this being Jordan and Ireland and all. Though lumped into the '70s glam rock pantheon, Roxy Music's singularly weird aesthetic, and the flat, imperfect warble of dapper singer Bryan Ferry, resist easy classification. |
