Podsolisation, lateritisation and gleying are the three most common pedogenic processes that have occurred in the study area (Coaldrake 1961).
The soil has a very firm, compact subsoil, but despite this, the structural nature of this layer is such that water moves through it readily, with no evidence of gleying.
