Gold·wyn  (gldwn), Samuel 1882-1974.
Polish-born American film producer who founded his own film company (1917) and merged with Louis B. Mayer to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (1925). His many productions include The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), for which he won an Academy Award.
