Recently, in a far-reaching opinion, the Michigan Supreme Court held that a governmental agency may not utilize eminent domain for the purpose of conveying taken property to a private third party for economic development.
State lawmakers should consider passing a law requiring every governmental agency to have a central listing of all property owned and what it's used for.
