ANTILLAS I is a submarine fiber optic system that links Puerto Rico with the Dominican Republic, being the first fiber optic system implemented with the Sincronous Diguital Herarchy (SDH) interconnecting the Greater Antilles in the Caribbean.
Geologically, the island of Jamaica is part of the tectonically active Greater Antilles Island Arc environment.
s Gaspar project, like it, occurs in the same Cretaceous volcanic rocks that form the backbone of the Greater Antilles island arc which hosts the giant Pueblo Viejo deposit in the neighbouring Dominican Republic.
