Green-backed herons sometimes drop bits of food into a stream as bait, repositioning it if currents start to sweep it away.
The birds include the green-backed heron, black-crowned night heron, cattle egret, great blue heron, great egret, little blue heron, tri-colored heron, and white ibis.
