1. (grnch, grnj) A borough of Greater London in southeast England on the Thames River. It is the site of the original Royal Observatory, through which passes the prime meridian, or longitude 0°. Population: 228,000.
2. (grnch, grn-, grnwch) A town of southwest Connecticut on Long Island Sound near the New York border. Settled in 1640, it is mainly residential. Population: 62,100.

Actor-writer Hugh Hughes from Llangefni, a leading light with Cambridge based Hoipolloi Theatre Company, will be taking his award winning production Floating to Grenwich Village next week.
The British-bred former track star, who won the Grenwich Cup and Catford's Gold Collar in a tremendous racing career, looks set to follow up with a fine stud career.
