(Mach.) the part of a steam engine on which the crosshead slides, and by which the motion of the piston rod is kept parallel to the cylinder, being a substitute for the parallel motion; - called also guide, and slide bar.

Kickback is the reactive force that happens when the nose or tip of the chain saw's guide bar comes into contact with a solid object (like a tree) or is pinched and recoils toward the operator.
The bracket system attaches to the saws utilizing either the 40mm or 50mm round shaft and mounts parallel to the existing guide bar.
Nothing should be obstructing the guide bar and chain.
