A city of north-central India south of Agra. It lies at the foot of a medieval Hindu fort, within which are elaborately carved palaces and temples. Population: 826,000.

2. (Placename) a former princely state of central India, established in the 18th century: merged with Madhya Bharat in 1948, which in turn merged with Madhya Pradesh in 1956
