HICPAC criteria were used to define the indications for use as prophylaxis, empirical, and specific therapy.
[8] This plan involves the collaboration of infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, microbiology, nursing, and housekeeping services; and the HICPAC recommendations form the basis for implementation of quality improvement programs and the provision of continuing education programs stressing an aggressive approach for all direct patient care providers.
Sounding the alarm In July 1997, the CDC and HICPAC published major interim guidelines for all healthcare professionals to prevent and control vancomycin-resistant staphylococcal infections.
