This is the third time Haitink has conducted K491 in London in as many months - it seems to hold a symbolic significance for its soloists.
Bernard Haitink once remarked that he believed Mahler should be played straight and the dramatics would take care of themselves.
In between performances, the tenor travels to Avery Fisher Hall, New York, for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the London Symphony and Bernard Haitink, a repeat of London concerts from last spring.
