a member of a Protestant sect from Württemberg, Germany that settled in Harmony, Pennsylvania, in 1803, and believed in common ownership of property.

The men's barbershop chorus, under the direction of Coby Foster, is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international organization of men's choruses and quartets.
Adopted by whites after World War II, the style of a cappella harmony became an established American tradition, shepherded by two big international associations -- the Barbershop Harmony Society for men and the Sweet Adelines for women.
