A system for remitting money, primarily in Islamic societies, in which a financial obligation between two parties is settled by transferring it to a third party, as when money owed by a debtor to a creditor is paid by a person who owes the debtor money. Hawala transactions are usually based on trust and leave no written record.

Byline: ANI Ranchi, Nov 19 (ANI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will question former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda here today over an alleged Rs 2,000 hawala transaction case.
AS HE prepares to face the Enforcement Directorate, offence seems to have become the best defence for Madhu Koda, at the centre of a Rs 2,500- crore hawala scam.
Mian Shaukat Masud, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in a statement here Wednesday said that due to non-availability of proper facilitation services to remitter, expatriate Pakistanis are forced to use undocumented hawala network which represents both a loss of revenue to government and a welfare loss for remitter.
