bazooka [bəˈzuːkə] n (Military / Firearms, Gunnery, Ordnance & Artillery) a portable tubular rocket-launcher that fires a projectile capable of piercing armour: used by infantrymen as a short-range antitank weapon [named after a pipe instrument invented by Bob Burns (1896-1956), American comedian] kazoo, bazooka - Dutch bazu, "trumpet," gives us the words kazoo and bazooka, the latter originally being a form of kazoo that was a long sounding-horn.
