Because, we believe, it is almost impossible to count bacteria in a hemocytometer and because by using this method both viable and nonviable organisms would be counted, a significant number of organisms in the culture may not have been viable after overnight incubation. The manual hemocytometer method, by comparison, typically measures less than one hundred cells and is very subjective. |
