A century ago, Hermann Minkowski put Einstein's brand-new theory of relativity into mathematical perspective, in the process brokering the merger of space with time.
As mathematician Hermann Minkowski declared in an address to the 80th Assembly of German Natural Scientists and Physicians in 1908: Hence forth space by itself and time by its self are doomed to fade away into mere shadows, and only a kind union of the two will preserve an independent reality.
Mathematician Hermann Minkowski and physicist Roger Penrose developed the model.
